We offer conventional braces to help align and straighten the teeth, while also working to improve the overall dental health of each individual. Braces can fix over bites, under bites, cross bites and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw. The ultimate goal is to achieve the perfect smile and an ideal occlusal bite (the way the jaw comes together).
Having straight teeth not only gives a person the confidence to smile but also allows a person to be able to clean effectively, which in turn, allows them to prevent the onset of gum disease. For example, teeth which are too close together and overcrowded, or sit at an odd angle can be difficult to floss and brush around, leading to the build up of plaque and calculus which subsequently causes the inflammation of the gums.
This can be done with a variety of different treatment methods, usually incorporating an orthodontic appliance which is attached or worn for a significant period of time. The type of treatment you have will depend on the current state of your teeth, your straightening goals, and other oral health factors.
Expansion
We recommend all children have an orthodontic consultation at the age of 7. At this age, early treatment may be carried out to prevent the child requiring a full course of orthodontic treatment in their early teens, or in some cases even prevent irreversible damage. A Rapid Palatal Expander (RPE) is normally worn between four to six months. They are used to help widen the palate by widening the two halves of the jaw. The appliance is fixed to the back teeth and with each activation, a key is used to rotate the expander to achieve desired results. In some situations, it may also reduce the total time for which they need to wear braces.
For some patients, expansion may prevent the need for extraction of permanent adult teeth because the space has now been created.
ClearCorrect
ClearCorrect is a form of clear braces. They are made from a clear, transparent, thermoplastic material which is typically worn 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat and to brush your teeth. They are sturdy, more comfortable than conventional braces and do not break easily. A series of aligners are custom made for your teeth changing them every 2-3 weeks depending. Treatment time can vary from two months to eighteen months, depending on the severity of each case.
Treatment costs depend on how many aligners are needed to straighten the teeth.
